Choosing a Physician for Cellulite Treatment

  • Know the limitations for treating cellulite
  • Experience counts
  • No bargains in skin care
  • Know the limitations for treating cellulite

Not every patient will respond well to cellulite treatment. Some treatments that may have worked well for one patient may not have the same impact on the next. Our limited understanding of cellulite makes treating it difficult and makes it one of the more tricky conditions we see. As a result our treatment outcomes can be highly variable. Understand this before paying any money, there is a risk you will not be pleased with the results. There is no ‘cure’ for cellulite.

    Experience counts

Choose a physician with extensive experience treating the skin. These are the people who will understand what works and what doesn’t. They will be honest with you that treating cellulite can be difficult and will explain the range of possible outcomes. They should also discuss with you the various treatment choices you have. Choose your physician wisely and consult with them on how to best address your concerns.

    No bargains in skin care

I have seen people who have experienced serious complications from other procedures as a result of poor treatment and “bargain-shopping”. Aesthetic medicine is not something you ought to go out bargain-shopping for. It is truly a ‘pay for what you get’ proposition in medicine. A highly-trained and experienced physician is invaluable when you are considering one of these procedures. Be careful not to feel pressured into a treatment, if you have questions, ask them. You may wish to ask things like: ‘Why are you recommending this procedure over others?’, ‘Do you offer other treatments for my condition?’, and ‘What can I expect for results?’ Don’t feel intimidated. A good physician will respect and welcome questions from a patient.
