Many of my patients have come to me over the years looking for a topical cream or lotion for cellulite. In my experience I have not seen any scientific studies or peer-reviewed journals supporting the effectiveness of creams for the treatment of cellulite. Some advocate the use of caffeine topically believing that this may help improve the metabolism of the fat cells and reduce their size. Some use sillicium or ginko biloba hoping to improve microcirculation in these cells. My opinion is that these topical treatments, creams, or lotions, are not very effective for cellulite.
