In 2005, Dr. Heron trained and became one of the first Bariatric Specialists in the country to master the laser procedure for the removal of cellulite utilizing a non-invasive laser. Dr. Heron now offers Smart-Lipo at “Heron Smart-Lipo Center”, the newest Laser Body Sculpting technique in the country, making him the most experienced physician in weight loss, laser liposuction and laser skin sculpting. Dr. Heron is a certified member of the Society of Aesthetics in Medicine in Laser Lipo-suction training. Despite all his accomplishments, Dr. Heron feels there is no greater personal reward than seeing his patient’s joy as they realize their weight loss goals and achieve the figure that they have desired all their lives.

Doctor's Weight Loss Centers (DWLC) was established in 1981 by Dr. Roy Heron in Alexandria, Virginia. With the tremendous success of the landmark practice, DWLC has since expanded to two convenient locations in the greater Washington, DC area.
Cellulite is an extremely common condition, one which over 80% of women will have by the age of 30. The causes of cellulite are not yet known, which only makes it even more difficult to effectively treat. Because we don’t totally understanding its cause, cellulite treatment becomes even more difficult. There are a variety of techniques now employed to treat cellulite which have shown some improve in the ‘orange peel’ appearance of the skin. One such treatment is mechanical massage, which improves microcirculation in the skin and is thought to improve drainage out of the bulging fat cells responsible for the dimpled appearance. Other methods involve radiofrequency or laser energy. Some combine all three.
In order to know which treatment may be right for you, it’s important to sit down and discuss your goals for treatment with a physician. They may explain the various cellulite treatment options and help you better understand what’s possible.
